Jewish Union soldier
at their seder
The Civil War is over and
ten-year-old Jacob wants to show those Yankees that not all Confederates are
ready to surrender. He gets his chance when a Yankee soldier, on leave for
Passover, stops at his porch. Before Jacob has a chance to speak, the
soldier asks for a piece of matzah. When Jacob summons his mother, she
invites the soldier in for the seder.
Gathered around the table, the group discusses what it
means to be free. This true story is about how common values can overcome
even the most divisive differences. |
