A poignant story set in 1947 when America's favorite past time became a battle ground for human rights. Nine years old, orphaned and of mixed race, Joey Sexton joins the neighborhood kids who flock to the park to play baseball.  He has been sent to live with his his mother's estranged family after her death. Shunned by his mother's white-Jewish family, yet taunted by his black peers Joey has little knowledge of either his racial or religious heritage.  He needs to belong, and if that means he has to fight the world to win acceptance, he will.
