Hanukkah at Valley Forge During the height of the Revolutionary War, George Washington sees one of his soldiers lighting a candle to commemorate the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah. When Washington asks the soldier what he is doing, the soldier retells the miraculous story of Hanukkah— of how a small army of Jewish soldiers defeated a much larger force, giving George Washington just the inspiration he needed. A fictionalized version of a poignant historical anecdote. Ages 7-10. |
