Every year just before Rosh Hashanah the rabbi of Nemirov disappears. The villagers are certain that he flies up to heaven to beg and plead with God to forgive each soul. But the Litvak (a scoffer or a skeptic) wants to prove that this is impossible. Accompanied by charming illustrations, this newly adapted version of Isaac Leib Peretz's story conveys the message that ordinary kindness and compassion are enough to save the world.
